We are in awe of this fascinating green establishment built by a British family in Wales. By digging into a hillside for low visual impact, the three of them were able to construct a one-of-a-kind home from natural materials in a short few months.. And for a small fraction (an estimated 3000 British Pounds to date) of what one would pay for a home of similar design.
Aside from a serious doze of story-book appeal the house features a frame of oak thinnings from surrounding woodland, reciprocal roof rafters, straw bales in floor, water supply by gravity of nearby spring, solar panels for lighting, compost toilet, and a water conservation system. For additional details visit www.simondale.net/house/index.htm
Target is jumping aboard the green ship with it's first collection of eco-friendly apparel. Designed by Rogan Gregory of Edun and Loomstate, the collection is sewn together using organic cotton, hemp, linen, and bamboo to create a "beach safari vibe". The new eco-minded wears include tanks, hoodies, trousers, and wrap dresses, affordably ranging from $14.99 to $44.99. Gregory credits Target's buying power in making these dynamic fabrics accessible to the masses.
The collection debuted at Barney's New York May 9 - 11, followed by Barney's LA May 16 -18. It is now due to appear at Target for six weeks. Way to grow green, Tar-zhay!

So maybe the coffee you brew at home or grab from the "good" corner shop is Fair Trade, but what about that piece of chocolate you inevitably end up chasing it with? The founders of Travel Chocolate have combined a passion for sustainable world travel and the cocoa bean with a goal of "improving farmers' working & living conditions."
In the spirit of this goal, Travel Chocolate avoids West African cocoa harvested by child labor and only accepts beans grown without pesticides, chemical fertilizers or other products that are harmful to both farmers and consumers. Add some great photos from around the world and a killer recipe and the result is a delicious range of smartly packaged, certified-organic gourmet chocolate bars. Consider picking up the VP Gift Box, which, with its sustainable box, makes a great gift for the informed chocolate lover in your life (and so what if that's you?).

Green is definitely the new black in the world of fashion, with everyone from Barney's to Banana Republic working tirelessly to green up their image. We are psyched to see manufacturers innovate with sustainable and renewable materials to create these new designs. We are particularly excited about this new collection from Adidas Originals.
Adidas GrŸn, meaning "green" in German, aims to better the environment by efficiently utilizing the natural resources of this world. With three guiding elements of "Made From", "Recycled" and "Reground", Adidas GrŸn offers a range of products, including classic silhouettes like the Forum basketball sneaker and the ZX 500 runner, all made from recycled and natural materials. Celebrity spokesmodels? No thanks. Over-the-top marketing campaigns? Ditto. Over-designed, bulky packaging? Ew. No! The founders of Osea Malibu don't rely on glitz and hype to move their line of skin care products. Instead, they focus on ingredients.

Inside Osea's simply designed bottles, you'll find advanced skin care products that owe much of their effectiveness to the bounty of the ocean. Carefully selected seaweeds from Hawaii, Brittany and Iceland combine with pure essential oils to create a variety of all-natural skin treatments. And of course, it should go without saying: all Osea products are 100 percent cruelty-free. Visit www.OseaSkin.com and find out why this is Hollywood's favorite skincare brand.

Many think that the decision to live "the Green life" will always end up costing you more money. Not so, says finance guru David Bach. Bach, a dedicated fan of our own Go Green accessories and enthusiast of the Green movement, not only shows how to save money while saving the environment by buying green products in the store, he drops tips on how to turn a serious buck. Late in the book, Bach outlines ways you can ride the "Green Wave," by investing in promising Green companies and saving yourself tax money along the way. All hail the new ethos: "get rich, or at least try not to make us all die trying."

The simple-yet-elegant products on offer at danishwool.com aren't made with your grandma's wool: that itchy, factory processed stuff. If anything, maybe they're made with wool closer to what your great, great, great grandmother knitted and donned - top quality, all natural, soft.

LANACare wool products were designed by a Danish nurse looking for the perfect fiber to improve the well-being of infants, children and nursing mothers. Demand for her products -- produced from chemically untreated, hand-shorn wool that meets stringent EU standards -- steadily grew and so has LANACare's offerings. Danishwool.com now features clothing and pajamawear for infants, children, nursing mothers and good ol' fashion adult men and women. Everyone deserves something soft.

We found this article by Carrie Alexander in the Orlando Sentinel. We like!
In 2008, she states, green is mainstream, fashionable, even luxurious.

Increased environmental awareness is accelerating the demand for all things green, not only for philosophical and political reasons but also because consumers can benefit. Green-built homes equate to less maintenance and lower utility bills. Furnishings from recycled products lessen the impact on landfills. Organic cotton used in clothing requires fewer pesticides to produce.

Organic, sustainable, and eco consious is certainly now the rule as opposed to the exception. Thanks to all who demand green, and of course, to all who creatively cater to these demands.
